A couple weeks ago I was invited to join a panel discussion on working in technology. The audience was made up of students, many of which were making career switches. Shout out to all of them taking that leap.

One particular question from that discussion stuck out…

When does the imposter syndrome go away?

I immediately smirked when it was asked. Mostly because it has never really gone away, at least not for me. I’m coming up on a decade of working in design/technology and at least a couple times I week I feel it.

That said, the things that made me feel like an imposter even 2 years ago are vastly different than what makes me feel like an imposter today.

And I chalk that up to growth.

As one takes on new challenges and opportunities, you’re going to be scared and feel like a big fraud sometimes, but once you’ve dealt with that Freddy Krueger—if you will—a couple dozen times, it becomes not that big of a deal. The worry and self doubt fades. You might even kinda enjoy it. You sicko.

But just know Michael Myers is waiting just around the corner. 🔪🔪🔪
