My LinkedIn feed has been filled with posts about layoffs. Bleh.

The team I worked on before my current gig all got the axe on Tuesday. Reading their posts over the last couple days has been sobering. It’s hard not to imagine I’d be right there with them if I’d stuck around.

Getting laid off is a time of loneliness and self doubt. It shrinks confidence and puts the brakes on what you’ve been working toward.

I bring this up, not to you bum you out on a Friday, but to encourage reaching out to those friends and/or colleagues who may be out there looking for work. Check in with them. Offer to help. Or just send them a dumb video. Let them know they are taking up space in your mind, that they are valued, and important.

They may return the gesture one day.
