Last week I was chatting with someone who’s retiring.

They are retiring today, actually.

As someone who has a few decades of Work™ still ahead of him, I asked if they had any advice.

They said two things:

I’m retiring because the thought of it is exciting. If I was scared or sad, I wouldn’t be retiring.
I wish I hadn’t obsessed over work. In the end it was not that important. I wish I pursued more hobbies. I’m spending my retirement finding one.
