Shampoo
I’ve purchased the same type of shampoo for the last 5 years, at least. It’s the one in the dark blue, liter-size container called Ocean Breeze… or is it Mist? Stamped with an all-caps MEN label just so no one gets confused. It’s a 2-in-1 conditioner + shampoo mix a more sophisticated person would balk at.
Anyway, when I got a new bottle recently I was surprised at how good it smells.
It’s so strong. Fresh with a hint of fruit.
I wondered why my last bottle of the same shampoo didn’t smell as good.
Does shampoo lose its scent? Did Suave change the formula?
I realized that both the old and the new smell exactly the same, but in the moment of washing my hair each night, I’m not being present. I’m stressing about work, thinking about life, or worrying about the world.
My sense of smell just shuts off.
It’s a good reminder to take a minute. Relax. Smell the shampoo.
